Kindergarten Transition Events Transition Events  are structured play dates facilitated by Preschool and Kindergarten teachers as well as program administrators. They include activities that will give your child a jumpstart for kindergarten and workshops for parents to build their confidence when entering the school-age experience.  

March 11th: 9:30-11am @ McBride Elementary
April 8th: 9:30-11am @ Columbia City Elementary
April 22nd: 9:30-11am @ Lewis and Clark Elementary  

Family BBQ and Movie Night:   May 31st: 5:30-7:30pm @ McBride

Registration & Kindergarten Welcome

St Helens School District calls the kindergarten registration event Kindergarten Welcome. Future kindergarten students and their parents/ caregivers can expect to learn about school, ride the school bus, tour the building, experience a structured play date with Kindergarten teachers  and other kids preparing for school. The adults will also learn about the parent organizations, summer support, and how best to prepare for Kindergarten. Staff will provide instructions for registration and Kindergarten Camp Enrollment.

  • Columbia City, Lewis & Clark and McBride Elementary Schools, 5/4/23, 5:30-7 p.m.

 

KinderCamp

This is a one-week, full-day, Kindergarten experience. It is the best way to prepare your future student for school.

As part of this FREE program, your incoming kindergarten student will:

  • Served snacks and lunch daily.

  • Learn important school routines.

  • Create relationships with kindergarten teachers and building staff.

  • Receive a jump start on learning reading, writing, and math skills.

  • Have fun with other children at camp.

  • Ease into the transition to full-day kindergarten.

  • Enjoy after-camp enrichment opportunities with their families.

To enroll in KinderCamp, you must have first completed the school district registration process. Enrollment in Kindercamp is due by June 30th, so that we can plan for staffing, transportation, meals, and supplies. No exceptions are made.
